Interactive media

IM1 is an introduction into the very broad spectrum that is Interactive Media. This is the place where I will document all of my work, ranging from things like pictures I drew (I'm a terrible artist I'm sorry in advance) to videos I create and edit.

logbook

This is my cover for our logbooks.  On the front I made the shaky stick figure because I am currently working on getting a similar design on the RBR Academy of Information Technology T-shirts for the class of 2019. It is also just something I find kind of funny and simple, because I know I can't draw, so why not embrace it? On the back I tried my best to draw the Neighbourhood album Wiped Out! since it has been something I've listened to a lot lately. I also appreciate the simplicity of the cover art because even though it is simple I think it encapsulates the overall feeling of the album very well. Overall, I'm happy with the overall product and wouldn't change too much given my limited drawing skills. I'm a fan of minimal designs and I think it represents my style well. Only thing I would change is that I wish I waited longer before picking it up so that the marker didn't smudge.

Cover box

cover box.PNG

Our next project was to create an alternate box art cover for one of our favorite movies. I chose to do Back to the Future 2 (hopefully that was obvious by the box art). We started with 4 different rough drafts and then from there, we picked 2 and redrew them with more detail. I ended up taking my favorite 2 designs and mashing them together for the final product, striking the lightning bolt between them (an important symbol in the film). Overall, I know I'm a miserable artist when it comes to pencil and paper, but I don't hate the overall turnout of the project. I like the design, and although I wish that the art was more professionally drawn (I cant draw to save my life), I think I did a pretty good job designing it.

Hive cover

The final draft of the cover art for my stop motion animation titled Hive. Its about bees defending their home from a man in search of honey. I'm extremely happy with the way the front and back (left and right sides) came out.

Hive

The final draft of my animation. Overall, I'm happy with how it came out, but again, I wish I could draw better, but hey, what are you gonna do? I'm happy with the sound editing, and I also like how the music fits into the animation. It's only up from here.

Logo

mylogo.png

The next project we worked on was a personal logo. I don't know why, but I really want to have a shaky looking stick figure represent whatever I do. It's something that started out early this year as my idea for an IT Academy T-shirt (it was kind of a joke) but I grew to like it a lot. It represents my inability to draw, and I like the irony it creates when I put it on something I've made that is a little more serious. The logo also shows that I don't take my stuff too seriously though.

Picture to come

This project took quite a bit of time. We started by practicing cutting out the film for a silk screen with multiple designs, starting for me with the head of Darth Vader.  The first print was on paper and in one color, and then I moved on to another print of a different design (an old George Watsky logo) in multiple colors. All of these prints went relatively well, aside from some bleeding from the each print. I then went on to print my logo (from the last project). Luckily there was absolutely no bleeding and the white came out better than I could've hoped for. Unfortunately though, despite having everything aligned and no bleeding, The colors I printed onto the black shirt came out extremely dull. When the shirt gets home I'll likely wash the colors out and keep the stick figure. I was pretty proud of the cleanliness of it though.

Intros

Re-Created the intro from Judd Apatow's Freaks and Geeks. The show only lasted one season but many believe it was ahead of its time and has gained a cult following over time. My intro is meant to introduce the other people in my class, which is why it is noticeably longer than the original. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Covers

The next project was to compile a bunch of covers of a song and mash them together. Pretty self explanatory. This made me laugh.

Lip sync

Very similar to the lsat project, only we had to use the original song's audio and match it with the lips of the cover singers. I chose a different song to keep things spicy.

The project here was to take a handful of songs and transition them on a certain word. I was absent most of this project so it got done in like a day but it's still not half bad.

Coloring

colorized.jpg

My next project for school (in between being ill and working on some personal projects seen elsewhere on the site) was to begin "colorize" a black and white photo. I started with this picture in which the background was completely different and extremely intricate, so I changed it to a more simple wooden background. Overall, I really like the feel of how this project turned out.

This is another picture where the whole photo was colorized in some way. I also enjoy this as a final product.
